Tampa Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) Preparation

During your tummy tuck consultation, Dr. Luria will take the time necessary to understand your expectations and determine if the procedure is right for you. He will discuss how much excess skin and fat can safely be removed as well as the type of procedure he recommends, whether it is a full or a mini tummy tuck, and the risks associated with the procedure. You should also come to the appointment prepared to discuss your medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, pregnancies, previous surgeries and medications that you currently take.

After your appointment, should you decide to schedule your tummy tuck procedure, you will work with the office staff to find a surgery date which works for you. You will need to put down a deposit of $500 to confirm the date and all surgical fees are due 3 weeks prior to surgery. Financing options are available to help offset some of the upfront costs of the procedure. Information can be found on our Tampa Plastic Surgery Financing page.

Dr. Luria will give you instructions on eating and drinking leading up to your surgery. If you are a smoker, it is recommended that you quit before your tummy tuck surgery. Aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs can cause increased bleeding, so you should avoid taking these medications for a period of time before surgery.

Dr. Luria usually performs the tummy tuck on an outpatient basis. If this is the case, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and to stay with you for at least the next day or two. When Abdominoplasty is performed in conjunction with medically necessary procedures such as hysterectomy or hernia repair, a short hospitalization may be required.

It is imperative that you follow all of Dr. Luria’s preoperative instructions to make your tummy tuck as successful as possible. If you have any questions, you can call the office at 813-875-6376.
