Tampa Breast Augmentation Post Surgery

Everyone has questions about how quickly they can return to normal activities. While not everyone is the same, these are some general guidelines as it relates to your breast augmentation surgery. Dr. Luria will give you specific instructions to expedite your recovery process. Make sure to follow these guidelines closely.

Returning to Work

After your breast augmentation surgery, you could be able to return to work after a few days, depending on the level of physical activity. You are advised not to do any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for a few weeks.

Swelling

You will be swollen and bruised around the breast area for about three to five weeks following surgery. You should be able to see the complete results of your breast augmentation after this time.

Showering

You generally can shower on the second or third day following your surgery.

Recovery

You will return home shortly after your breast augmentation. You can be up and about 24 to 48 hours after your surgery. Your breasts will be bandaged for a few days. When the bandages are removed Dr. Luria may advise you to wear a surgical bra for the next couple weeks.

Discomfort

Your breasts will be sore for about two to three weeks after breast augmentation surgery. You might feel a tingling sensation in your breasts or a burning sensation of your nipples; this should only last for one to two weeks. Dr. Luria can also give you pain medication to help with the discomfort if needed. Your breasts should feel back to normal at about three to four weeks following surgery.

Results

The length of results from your breast augmentation varies for everyone. Breast augmentation results are not always permanent. You may need to have them replaced or removed later in life. Problems associated with breast implants include scarring of the implant, know as capsular contraction. You may need to have either the scar or the implant removed to correct this problem. Another problem associated with breast implants is the numbing or over sensitivity of the nipple.
